I purchased this heat exchanger direct from Vevor, as it was cheaper than on eBay and Amazon, and I specifically wanted the 30 plate exchanger, which made choices quite difficult. When it arrived, and it did arrive fairly quickly, it was well packed, and also included two fitting brackets that I didn't use. Quality is excellent!, I'm using this as a heat exchanger for my spa. I use a custom heater configuration with Webasto Thermo Top Z directly pumped to this heat exchanger via fully insulated, copper plumbing and push fit connectors. The set up is only designed to heat the heat exchange of water to 52°C. Chilled water from the spa circuit is pumped direct from the spa through the second circuit of the heat exchanger. I use a basic antifreeze solution based on copper and aluminium for the primary circuit. This set up with this heat exchanger works faultlessly. I am very impressed.

Flow = 15 liters per minute Hot outlet = temperature drop not an issue, as Hot Side heated by diesel heater. Cold Side - Water (pure water) Cold inlet - Starting temperature 10°C. - Flow = 2.5 Liters per minute Cold outlet - TARGET TEMPERATURE = 65°C.

Hi, what is the approximate kW rating of this unit, assuming a constant hot side temp of 80degC (20% ethylene glycol)? I want to calculate what I can expect in the way of hot water flow for a shower, if I plumb the unit into a diesel SUV's cooling system.

Whether the flow rate is 3L/min or 30L/min, when the pipe is small, 3L/min is also very fast, so it cannot be calculated. According to the heat exchange amount = temperature difference * flow rate * specific heat * specific gravity, the temperature difference of water = the inlet temperature of the water on one side - the outlet temperature. The specific heat specific gravity of water is constant, so you need to know the outlet temperature and flow rate to calculate the exchange rate.

We need to know what the heat source is. This is a copper brazed plate heat exchanger, which is not powered and does not heat itself. There needs to be hot side water, one side connected to hot and one side connected to cold, to transfer heat through inter-wall heat exchange.

Copper is solder, which is equivalent to glue, which welds each piece together. Therefore, there is also copper in the channel, which will come into contact with water. If it passes through seawater, it is not recommended to use it.
