Just received these and found that the front lip is extremely high, measured at 5/8\". I suppose this is fine for larger items (e.g. the nominal 50lb limit), but for the moment I'm putting a relatively small network switch on the shelf. The lip covers fully half of the height of the lower row of ports, forcing me to shove the switch back quite a bit for the cables to fit, and then I'm going to have to lift up the switch every time I need to connect something to it. I would recommend reducing the height of the lip by 1/2, if necessary putting either a secondary outward bend in it or a lengthwise \"dimple\" to add rigidity to the shorter lip. I'll try to remember to update this review when I've had more time using them with larger equipment (e.g. my NAS's that will go on the second shelf). In the meantime I need to find a shelf that's more appropriate for this particular location...

I bought these shelves when I was setting up my first home networking server. At first I though I would need these shorter depth, 1U shelves, but quickly realized I would need to upgrade. They are fine shelves, but in the end, I returned these shelves and bought a couple of 2U, deep shelves(14\") that use a heavier grade of steel and will hold anything you have.

The width is too narrow, my Ubiquiti equipment is too big for their selves. I need to flip the self upside allowing the width to fit. Doing it this way allows the equipment to slide all over with any rack movement
