Woven mat works great to block weeds, allow rain water to pass through, and regular soil temperate. Covered 3 acres of blackberries 1 acre of raspberries. After 4 years material is still holding up well without a mulch covering. In windy areas I had to build some larger staples out of 3/8 rebar as holes cut into catch on wind gusts lifting middle of panels. Large width reduces seams. Used in gardens walkways around raised beds works great.
