Can this be used to drive a star connected 220v 3ph motor or is it necessary to change the motor connection to delta?

The triangle and star connection of the inverter is used to switch the voltage between 380 volts for the star and 220 volts for the triangle, so you are currently using a 220 volt inverter, so it can only be used for the triangle connection.
